You can choose to take your IELTS test on a computer at a test centre, or from the comfort of your home or anywhere with a stable internet connection with IELTS Online (IELTS Academic only).

Your Listening, Reading, and Writing section of the test will be completed on the same day with no break in between. During the pandemic, we are running tests in the morning and in the afternoon. Morning sessions are usually between 9.00 and 12.00 pm. Afternoon sessions are usually between 1.00 pm and 4.00 pm.
If you take IELTS Online, the Speaking test will usually be before your Listening, Reading and Writing. It could be on the same or a different day.
You can choose your Speaking test slot. If we need to change your slot due to the pandemic, we will notify you by email or phone.
If you need a visa for working or studying in the UK, the in some cases you may need to take IELTS for UK Visas and Immigration or IELTS for UKVI Life Skills.
